Kort had a great day at school yesterday!!! (For those of you who have been following for awhile, you'll know what a great thing this really is.) We love him so much (just the way he is) and can't really fault him for the "crazy" that happens to be concretely coded into his genes. He comes from a long, prominent line of Blackwell men who got their starts blowing up toilets at school, burning down fire stations, burning down acres of field (and ALMOST Grammy and Papa's HOUSE), and... well you get the idea. And we won't even MENTION the genetic contributions of his MOTHER who may or may not have stolen fish from the local Springville fish hatchery (at the ripe old age of five) and dissected them at the neighbor boy's house. My poor husband (who was a saintly child) sure doesn't deserve what's coming...but, hopefully 2 good meals a month and lots of hugs and kisses (from yours truly) will somehow make up for it, and buffer the blows to come.
Yes, it seems that Kortland is 98% Blackwell when it comes to, (ahem) "good behavior" (or the lack thereof) but yesterday, he DEFIED his genetics and brought home a report card with not one, not t.w.o., but THREE (yes, I just said THREEEEEEE) circled smiley faces! Woo-hoo! We are so proud of him! He is such a sweet boy, and so kind at heart. He may have a hard time sitting still, NOT talking, and listening attentively, but he is the nicest boy around. He strives to show kindness to everyone, even when they don't show the same kindness toward him, and to me, this is infinitely more important. We are so proud of you buddy!
Now, behold the celebratory photo shoot:
Cheese!
Oooooooh - yeah!
Yesssssss!
AND, just in case you've forgotten (you know, like, during the whole 5 seconds that I HAVEN'T been talking about it) we're also STILL soooo happy that he's going to be a big brother! Yay! He wants to wear this shirt every. single. day. The letters are starting to fall off because it's been washed 3 times a week since Christmas, but he doesn't care. Two nights ago, I snuggled with him in bed as his little hands rested on my growing tummy. Out of nowhere, he squealed "I can't believe we're going to have a babyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!" His joy, and the joy of this new baby is sometimes more than we can absorb or comprehend fully at any given moment, so it comes in bursts and spurts, and these will likely continue until our little angel gets here this August.
VOGUE - it's "anything for a laugh" with this kid!
Yaaaay!!!!
So, despite the fact that the positive comments totally helped Kort do great at school, we haven't TOTALLY outweighed the comments on "crazy controversy blog" but we're close! So if you haven't shared some happy day, do it on the post below!! (Or you can do it here and say "Three smiley faces, yay!" or "Your eggo is preggo - yay!!!!")
Hope you all have a wonderful day!!
