scary.

Kortland and his cousin are arguing over what to do next. Kort wants to watch "Smurfs" (Yes, we have all the seasons of "Smurfs" and no, the hubs and I do not watch them.) Cousin wants to play the Wii. I tell Kortland that we are going to do what our guest would like to do and that he should enjoy having a guest over since it hasn't happened very often lately. I also tell him that he can watch Smurfs when he is alone and bored. Watching Smurfs is not an interactive activity. So, Kort leaves the room in a huff and I set the Wii up for Cousin. Kort comes back into his room carrying a bowl of vanilla yogurt and fresh strawberries.

"I'm just going to watch him play" he says, "and I got this (gesturing towards the bowl of food) because I eat when I'm upset."

My wife and I taught primary in our last ward, kids 8 to 9 years old. We had a girl in our class named Emma who did gymnastics. I was at a primary activity and Emma's mom told us that they were talking to Emma about taking her out of gymnastics but Emma said to her, "I like gymnastics because when I'm at gymnastics, I forget about the things in my life that make me sad."
