Wow, August was nuts ya'll!
It FLEW by and I couldn't blog fast enough to keep up!
So, here 's a review.
School Bag. He had specific requirements for his school bag this year. The teacher said NO backpacks and nothing with a zipper. She wanted every child to have a square bag that fit up to 9x12 papers and had their first name on the front. So, the wheels started turning in my head, and this is what I came up with! I spent six hours cutting everything out and sewing it with Kyle's mom a few days before school started, and I love the end result!
Crazy Zucchini. Um, yeah, I routinely forget to check and pick the zucchini at proper intervals. This is the result. Gigantic, bitter, neglected zucchini. (and a child who is thrilled about it!)
Bella and Kortland.
Oh snap, life is really really good.
Tub Art. Kort taking a tub before the first day of school. This is a painting of me walking him to class (and yes, I cried, but that way I got it out of my system so I wouldn't be blubbering in the hallway the next day...NOT that there's anything wrong with that! ha ha)
ORIENTATION
Kortland really enjoyed meeting his teacher and getting familiar with his classroom.
Camping
My friend Tana and I decided to take the kids camping up Hobble Creek Canyon a few days before school started. We couldn't believe that summer was already over, and wanted to have one last hoorah with the kids. So, I'm very proud to say, that we went all by ourselves - no Dads allowed- and had such a great time. I slept in our big, old school van with Kort and Bella (who made us feel extra safe) and it was so so so so great.
Greater still was the fact that said van was actually
"down by the river"
which fullfilled a long-time dream of mine. I wish we would have thought of it sooner so we could get multiple trips in - there's always next summer.

Kortland looks so cute in all these pictures! What a fun mom you are!
Love the bag!! You did such a great job!! He is so adorable! What a cutie!
I can't believe he is in school. I love the bag you made him. Kylie just started preschool and she loves it! Yeah for me!
Were you eating a steady diet of government cheese and rolling doobies in your van down by the river?
I laughed.
I also admired the school bag. Six hours, eh? I would've stapled it together and used puffy paint to write his name to save some time. You are a much better woman than I.
