I challenge you all to a... challenge, I guess.

Runnin' Runnin'

and Runnin' Runnin'...

I found out (kinda late) about a fun challenge that is being sponsored by American Family Insurance, and I thought it would be really fun to participate! It's called "the Children's 26.2 Challenge" and the purpose of Children's 26.2 Challenge is to promote the physical fitness of Utah children. This program challenges children to run a marathon over a three-month period. The challenge can be completed by running 26.2 miles by July 1, 2008. A child can run anytime, anywhere--as little as a 1/4 mile at a time. After each run, the child should shade in the squares on the official participation form -which can be found and printed off at this site http://www.childrens262challenge.com/

* Utah children kindergarten through sixth grade (2007-08 school year) are eligible to participate.

Children who complete the 26.2 miles and submit the completed participation form or log their miles online by July 5, 2008 will receive the following awards (woo-hoo!) on July 18, 2008 at Utah's Hogle Zoo:
Free entry into the Zoo
Free Children's 26.2 Challenge T-Shirt
Free popsicle during the Children's 26.2 Challenge celebration.

Click on the link above for complete information. We should definitely (those who have children who are old enough) participate in the challenge and have a fun "Zoo Day" on July 18th! Kortland and I are going to do it and even went on our first run this morning. I explained the challenge to him and he was REALLY excited about going to the zoo, and even excited about the running itself (he's such an outdoorsy kid) Kyle drove the car to figure out how far a quarter mile was, then Kort and I ran it. He had such a great time, and since we're getting a late start, we're going to run a quarter mile each morning and each evening, and maybe even go longer distances as his body works up to it. He was so darling this morning while we ran!
First, we ran by his friend's house, and he was playing in his front yard and Kort called out
"Hey Scott! I'm gettin healthy!"
(Ahhhh - ha ha ha ha! So cute!!)
Then later, he tripped and sprawled out onto the sidewalk, and I was SURE that the next moments would be filled with scratches, tears, and a sniffely piggy back ride back to our house, but he did something I can honestly say I have NEVER (ever ever ever ever) seen him do before... His body hit the sidewalk and he bounced right into some sort of a super hero roll, sprang back to his feet and kept on a runnin'! I said "Buddy, are you okay?" and he said
"Yeah, I didn't want to be all crying and stuff during my run!"
Oh man! You can't make this stuff up! I love this kid - he always manages to crack me up. -- So, if any of ya'll want to start running - let me know if you have any questions about entering, but it will be a great way to spend bonding time "getting healthy" with your kids, AND earn them a freebie day at the Zoo while you're at it! Hot Dang!
Life is Good.

I know as much about marathon running, and running in general, as you guys do about Taiwanese pop music. At any rate, glad to see you have a blog, and I just wanted to say that the pic is great of you guys. Kyle looks cool and contemplative, Laura looks gorgeous, and Cortland (no idea how to spell his name) is cute as can be.

I was so glad to see your post on our blog! We are living in Idaho Falls for the time being. We would like to move back to Utah at some point in time. But for now, this is where we are. I hope life is treating you well, we will have to stay in touch. :)
