Okay, we're taking a break in all of this crazy truth-telling.
I'm going to take just a moment to say:
Can you believe my little chunker is already 5 months old?!?!
Where did that five months go?
{No really, where?}
This little dude brings us just as much joy as he did on the day of his arrival.
And just today, I discovered that he LOVES reading mags on the couch with me! How great is that? And here I thought I had to get him to go down for a nap before I could enjoy some mag time! Not so. He loves squealing and slapping the pages, and chewing on "Order a year of House Beautiful for only $10!" post cards {yep, I'm THAT mom}, and oooing and ahhhing and ah-gooing at all of the lovely furnishings and great rugs and draperies. He's so much fun to peruse around with. What a pal.
We love him.
Oh how we love him.
He thinks his big brother is the funniest, coolest person on the planet of earth.
And he has decided that bottles every now and again, are just not his thing.
Nope.
Not ever.
Not even a little.
It's boobies or bust for that boy.
He is currently recovering from a cold,
and when I suck snot up out of his nose
with that baby blue bulb syringe...
heaven help us all.
He forgives me though...eventually.
But then, sometimes he remembers,
and shudders,
and whimpers,
and cries at me a little more,
as if to say:
"That was SO MEAN!
I just now this very moment remembered
how terribly mean that was!
I thought we were friends.
I thought you had my back.
Boo to you, mom.
Boo, I say, boo!"
And I want to bawl.
And I say:
"I'msorryI'msorryI'msorryI'msorry
I'msorryI'msorryI'msorryI'msorry!"
I can't wait till he's eating solids...
and I can follow those awful nose suckings up with
c.h.e.e.r.i.o.s.
and other delightful, dissolve-y delicacies,
so that all can be right with the world
{and our relationship}
once again.
I took him to the doctor today
because I was worried his cold was getting to a
scary, bronchial, RSV-ish stage that needed to be kept in check.
*
Upon our arrival, Tennyson turned the cute up a notch {or 62}
and charmed the pants off of everyone in the doctor's office.
He squealed as they put him on the scale.
He smiled and "ah-gooed" when they measured his oxygen
using a little thinger on his big toe.
He did a crazy, flaily-armed jig
when I laid him down on the crackly-paper bed,
and even when the nurse sighed and said
"He's going to hate me now,
because I have to take his temperature rectally."
Tentens gallantly responded to the um, invasion,
with w.i.d.e. saucer eyes...and then a sweet smile.
What. a. peach.
Prognosis?
RSV? - Most likely, yes.
HOWEVER,
thus far, he is kicking it's trash...
so, so far so good.
We'll be watching him closely though.
Love me that thar boy.
He is one good guy.
Happy five months, beauty boy!

Ok have you seen that episode of Charlie & Lola where it's Charlie's birthday & he gets a card from granny & grandpa thats a monster & when you open it, it says (in the grrreatest british monster voice ever) "I just wanted to say 'Happy Birthday' before I gobble you up!" and then Lola laughs like a maniac and opens it 73,379 times in a row?
Well tell Tens that for me. Because I seriously need to gobble him up. Like for real. That kid is...wow. Just wow. So cute.
In other news. Did you get my email & can you come?
Please say you can.
I hope your son never has to read this blog when he grows up. If he does, I'm pretty sure he will "throw up a little in his mouth" that you wrote "it's boobies or bust" about him. I have nothing against nursing (I've nursed 4 kiddos myself) but my 14 year old would be horrified if he found out I wrote something like that about him. Just something to think about...
Dear Anonymous,
You must not know this family very well...cause actually I think they will look back and have a good laugh and his crazy uncles will tease him and they will laugh some more, cause they are a loving family that builds confidence with love and laughter! And seriously it mad me laugh to read your comments just thinking about their reaction to the comments! (can't wait to hear some) Keep up the good work Laura! Love you and your posts!
ps. I am not related. I am a grandma and still thought it was funny!
I can't believe how big he is getting. He so cute! And why in the world to people feel that they need to go around censuring people's personal blogs. It drives me crazy that anyone tells you what you can and can't say on your own blog. You are nice to let everyone into your wonderful life and they need to keep their mouths shut or go somewhere else! Okay a little passionate there, but that is so annoying. But I really love you and your wonderful blog.
I am loving those pictures of your cute little one. However this morning....not helping. I am officially overdue with mine on the way. And yes...not helping. Making me 10 times more baby hungry than before (and that is saying a lot!)My fav is the last one of him smiling! Does this big bump really turn into that? Please say yes!
He is so cute. Happy five months.
Kissable. Yep he is!!! I want to nibble his cheeks!
Oh we love Tentens!! Both Dillon and Kaylie were "Boobies or bust" too! (Yup, I said it too, take that Anonymous!) I love the pictures in your header! But, correct me if I'm wrong, don't you have TWO beautiful dogs in your family? Where was Bella in these pics? ;o)
He is gorgeous! Thank you for sharing the fabulous pictures, and I love your commentary.
You have a wonderful sense of humor, blended with just a shot of acerbic wit and lots of compassion.
Oh Lola, I love you and your crazy sense of humor. Some people aka-anonymous have nothing better to do then spout senseless and uneducated brain diahrrea on others blog-pity isn't it. Well, that just confirms why my blog is private and only my friends with names are invited. Love you and your family and all the crazy fun things you share with us. I will always remember the fun times at my house.
Hugs,
Lynne
PS. Your baby is ADORABLE.

sorry, that wasn't very mature but I couldn't resist.
My darling Tennison - STOP growing up so fast!! It's making me sad and happy all at the same time and my delicate little mind cannot handle such opposite emotions at the same time.
For the record, I'm teaching my fourteen year old that breastfeeding isn't embarrassing. In fact, I would breastfeed his younger brother while he would tell me about his day. I can pretty much guarantee Ten-tens won't be embarrassed about breastfeeding. Just something to think about...
Dear anonymous,
Thank you for saying what you said respectfully. {and no, I'm not being sarcastic}
The "throw up a little in his mouth" was a nice touch {and no, I'm still not being sarcastic} :)
My family is admittedly BIZARRE, and way too funny for our own good, and my friends are sort of right. My kids will so. not. blush. over this in the future... but I AM trying to walk that line {you know, the really fine one that is a trixy little hobbit from time to time?} I omit A LOT of Kortland information now a days for that very reason.
So, the feed back is okay, and even a little appreciated, because, more often than not... I go too far. ha ha!
With love,
Lola
