So, we took Kortland over to Sonic Drive Thru the other day to participate in his school's fundraiser. It was windy, rainy, freezing, and pretty much awful. (In case you were wondering...) But the Cherry-Lime-Slush-Floats? Whooo! Out of this world. (Thanks to Becky both for recommending it, AND for the above photo.)
So, we were sitting on one of their cold metal picnic tables, shivering and eating slushies (makes perfect sense to go get and eat a slushie in 40 degree weather, right? Right.) when the hubs stopped a waitress to ask for some extra napkins. Here is how the conversation went down:
The Hubs: Excuse me, could we get some extra napkins please?
Sonic Girl: Sure! I'll grab those right now.
The Hubs: Thanks.
Kortland: Whoa mom, it's kind of like she is our servant!
Lola: No bud, she is a server, but not like our servant.
Kortland: Yes she is. She's doing what dad asked her to do...that's just like a servant!
*pauses...waits a moment...the wheels are clearly turning...*
Kortland: Hey mom! When she comes back out with the napkins, (whispers) ask her to do the splits - okay?
Ahhh ha ha ha ha!
Wow. Just, wow. And in case you're wondering about where he got THAT idea, well, he is obsessed with the splits. At school, they do stretching exercises in PE, and some of girls in the class can do the splits. So now, EVERYONE in the class (including/especially the boys) want to do the splits. Kort comes home every night and stretches while he watches cartoons so that someday he will be able to do the splits (and therefore automatically become one of the coolest kids in school...um ri-iiight.) It is bizarre...and sort of hilarious. And I love the fact that he thinks that "servants" at our local drive thru will happily do them upon request. Boy oh boy.
