What helps you relax?

Photobucket
Sometimes cooking can be QUITE a volatile activity for me. I burn things, drop things, mutter choice words under my breath, slam cupboards, and set the smoke detector off (which scares Bubbuh out of his wits and makes my house rather smelly for a time). That's when I usually call it a day and just go get in bed and throw the covers up over my head and have a good cry. I'm not a good cook by nature.

But there are also those magical times when cooking just goes soooo right. This usually happens when Kort is in school, Kyle is in meetings, Bella is out back harassing the dogs next door through a hole in the fence, Bubbuh is sleeping on the tile floor, and I am singing the soundtrack from the Broadway Musical "Wicked" at the top of my lungs. (Yes, our neighbors love us, why do you ask?) I love kneading dough in my hands, beating eggs, measuring powders, and stirring pretty much everything by hand. Oh, yeah baby. That's when my shoulders drop, my back relaxes, and my mind is able to focus solely on the task at hand. Anyone who knows me knows that this is a miracle in and of itself. My mind is all sorts of "Blah, blah, blah, and chatter, chatter, chatter..." all of the time! So when it goes quiet, life is very, very good.

The ladies over at communal global want to know what helps YOU relax! So go on over there and link up and tell them! It's simple. Post a picture of something that helps you relax on YOUR blog, then link it to Communal Global. Do it. You'll love it. We will love it too! See you there.

I love the artichoke picture Laura. I find that if I cook something sweet, like a cake/biscuits that is relaxing. I wrote a post the other day about making cupcakes with my daughter. I chilled with her and baked at the same time.

I love to cook too!! Although only find it relaxing once I have decided what it actually is that I am going to cook!

:D Those magical cooking moments are awesome, agreed...but for me, finding them is too stressful...I much prefer the eating part of non-cooking a.k.a snacking...preferably while reading in bed!!!

Baking cookes for my boys is my form of relaxing. Unfortunately I have to make at least two different sorts each time because my sons don't agree on their favourites.
