On the 9th and 8th days of Christmas, my favorite things would be...

...Hand-made gifts from Kortland...

and

Today I'm featuring
The Forgotten Carols
My mom took me to see the live show when I was about 12, and it was amazing! It has been a Christmas favorite of mine ever since. If you live in Utah, I'm fairly certain that it isn't possible to have remained oblivious to the existence of this little gem, but if you're an out-of-stater, I highly recommend getting on Amazon and ordering the book with CD set. It is a wonderful Christmas story. Here is an excerpt from one of my favorite songs:
A Man Forgotten
***
He never would condemn me.
I did that all on my own.
He offered His forgiveness,
And ever since then I've known
He lets us choose each hour of each day
If we'll let Him in to stay.
Let Him in.
Let Him in.
Let the hope and joy begin.
Let Him in.
Let Him in.
Let the peace on earth begin.
Whether it be in your world today
Or a crowded Bethlehem inn,
Find a way...make Him room...let Him in.

Kortlandsim of the Day:
(walking home from school this morning)
Kort: Mom, two kids got put on time out today.
Me: Oh, that's no fun.
Kort: Yeah...
(walk in silence for a bit)
Kort: One of the kids that got sent to time out was Jebediah. (My surrogate/generic name for any/all of Kort's schoolmates.) ...and the other kid who got sent to time out...(another short, soap-opera-like pause) is standing right beside you.
Ha ha! (Where on earth does he get such an extreme flare for the dramatic? Mom?... Jen?... Lisa? ...Brothers? What do you think? I am at a total loss on this one ;)

I can't believe I am admitting this:
That made me laugh so hard I snorted.

You know he did not get that dramatic flare from anyone he is related to! Must be one of those random genetic things or something...

LOVE IT!

That seriously made my day!

I have never seen The Forgotten Carols. I have a feeling I would find it cheesy. I don't want to hold hands in a big Kumbaya circle.

Jen - Yay! your texts make my day, so I'm just glad I could return the favor. Geez. What a kid huh? I'm so in for it.

Kristina - Ahhhhh! I forgot about that! No, it's actually worse than Kumbaya...it's "We can be Together Forever Someday"...and I'm not ashamed to admit that by the end of it I was totally bawling... Ha ha ha ha! (okay, I'm actually totally ashamed to admit that!)

You know, I normally am not a big Michael McLean fan cause I think his songs are a bit cheesy, (I can see people coming at me with pitchforks and torches for saying that...) but I love the Forgotten Carols! (And the Garden!) A Man Forgotten is my favorite. I love the different view of the Inn keeper. :)

Kort is so funny! He and Xander really should get together! Well, maybe not. I'm afraid of the fires they might start or worse... lol! ;)
